Some backstage news has come to light regarding the finish to a match during last night’s NXT TakeOver 31 show on the WWE Network.
The main event of the show saw Finn Balor retain the NXT Title over Kyle O’Reilly in one of the best TakeOver matches in history, but both men were rumoured to have injuries coming out of it.
On Wrestling Observer Live (via Wrestling Inc), Bryan Alvarez reported that Finn Balor called for an early finish to the match. The finish was likely going to be the same with the Coup de Grace but there were probably more spots planned that we didn’t get to see before that happened.
Alvarez also clarified that O’Reilly is doing okay, so his injury shouldn’t be too serious.
Balor was taken for CAT scans but the results of those scans aren’t yet known so we don’t know the extent of his injuries.
WrestleTalk.com will keep you updated with any news on the conditions of Balor and O’Reilly as they become available.
