Some backstage news has been revealed regarding WWE reportedly banning wrestlers from “thigh slapping” during matches.
Wrestlers slapping their thighs has become popular with moves such as superkicks to make them sound more impactful. There’s often a bit of a misconception that it’s a new phenomenon, which it isn’t.
According to Dave Meltzer in the latest Wrestling Observer Newsletter, WWE is now fining talent for doing that.
There was said to be a memo sent out to NXT talent informing them of the rule, but nothing said beyond that.
Fightful Select has added to this news, reporting that there was a sign up at WWE events last week with “NO THIGH SLAPPING” written on it in big bold letters.
The memo was reportedly sent out in February.
