A new report has revealed how the No Rules match between Chris Jericho and Nick Gage at AEW Fight for the Fallen came about.
On the July 28 show, Jericho defeated Gage following a violent match where the two competitors attacked each other with panes of glass, light tubes and pizza cutters.
On the latest episode of Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer revealed that Jericho had likely pitched the hardcore match after narrating Dark Side of the Ring, which had Gage as the subject of one of its episodes.
Meltzer also noted that Tony Khan informed the TNT network of the match in advance, so it is reportedly unlikely that AEW will be dropped because of the brutal match.
Following the bout, Chris Jericho took to social media to show off his wounds. The match marked the second chapter of the The Five Labours of Jericho.
Part three will see Jericho do battle with Juventud Guerrera on next week’s show, in a match where you must hit a move off the top rope to win.
