Backstage Origins Of Urban Meyer AEW Cameo Revealed

AEW President Tony Khan has revealed the backstage origins of the cameo of football coach Urban Meyer during AEW Double or Nothing.

During last month’s Stadium Stampede match, The Jacksonville Jaguars’ head coach, Urban Meyer, made a cameo alongside the assistant coach, Charlie Strong.

According to Tony Khan, Meyer and Strong were both willing to appear during the wrestling pay-per-view. Speaking on Pardon My Take, Khan recalled asking Meyer for a “favor” the day before Double or Nothing.

Explaining that he and Meyer are friends, Khan said:

“He’s my friend. We were at work and sometimes the crossing over. I was in his office and we were looking at the roster and he was packing up. I said, ‘Would you do me a favor tomorrow?’ ‘Sure, what is it?’ I told him what it was, to appear in Stadium Stampede. ‘It’ll be like, you and Charlie are working in your office late on Sunday night. Charlie is a huge wrestling fan, so he’ll get a huge kick out of it.’

“‘Chris Jericho and MJF are going to brawl through your office while you’re working. We’ll improve a great scene.’ He’s like, ‘Yeah, sure.’ Urban is the best. Urban and Charlie were happy to do it. It was a fun crossing over of the two things.”

The Inner Circle defeated The Pinnacle to close Double or Nothing, tying up the score. The Pinnacle had previously won the Blood & Guts match between the two factions.

Following the Blood & Guts match, MJF pushed Jericho off the top of the cage, through the stage. Jericho has opened up about the spot, admitting that he was terrified by the thought of taking the bump.
