Backstage Reaction To AEW PPV Length AEW

The backstage reaction to AEW’s pay-per-view length following Double or Nothing this weekend has been revealed.

AEW’s latest pay-per-view event took place on Sunday night, with Double or Nothing taking place in Glendale, Arizona.

The show featured the two finals of the Owen Hart Foundation Tournaments, with Hangman Adam Page and Mercedes Mone picking up the wins over Will Ospreay and Jamie Hayter respectively.

One criticism AEW has faced over the years is for the length of their pay-per-views, which tend to run for over four hours.

While a lot of fans like the longer shows from the promotion due to the matches being given more time, there are others who believe the events should be shorter.

Speaking on Wrestling Observer Live, Bryan Alvarez said that he spoke to a lot of people in AEW after Double or Nothing, with all but one saying that the shows are too long.

He said:

“Yesterday, I spent the whole day talking to all sorts of people in AEW. I will say with one exception, because if I say ‘everybody’ then, you know, but it was actually everybody – every single person was like, ‘These shows are too long. We all know it. They should end before midnight on the east coast.’

“Every single person in the company that I talked to, except Tony because I didn’t talk to him – because of course he doesn’t think they’re too long – every single person there is like, ‘They’re too long. He just does it. We can’t stop it. There’s nothing that can be done’.

“The shows are too long. Everybody knows it except Tony and a small handful of the sickos that would watch the show if it were nine hours long.”

AEW’s next pay-per-view event, AEW All In, is once again set to go head-to-head with a WWE NXT premium live event on July 12.
