A new report has been revealed on the backstage reaction to Carlito’s return at WWE Backlash.
During the San Juan Street Fight between Bad Bunny and Damian Priest at WWE Backlash, Carlito made a surprise appearance to help Bunny and Rey Mysterio fight off The Judgment Day’s Finn Balor and Dominik Mysterio.
The Puerto Rican native made his return alongside fellow WWE alumni Savio Vega as members of the Latino World Order.
Fightful Select (subscription required) provided an update, noting that WWE sources were very happy with the return of Carlito.
Several backstage spoke about how much the former Intercontinental Champion had matured since his first WWE run, and said the reaction from the San Juan crowd was “even better than expected.”
Carlito previously returned to the promotion during the ThunderDome era at WWE Royal Rumble 2021. The report notes that there have been numerous pitches over the last couple of years to bring the former United States Champion in for runs or even full-time.
As of this weekend, Carlito’s appearance with WWE was a one-off, but that could always change.
As previously reported, the 44 year old has spoken about his wrestling future ahead of WWE Backlash and an update has been provided on the talk following his appearance.
