It was recently reported that former Ring of Honor booker Marty Scurll was used at a recent set of NJPW Strong tapings. It has since been reported that Scurll will not figure in to New Japan Pro Wrestling’s plans going forward. You can read more about that here.
Now, Fightful Select (subscription required) has reported what the backstage reaction to Scurll’s involvement was. The report states that several people on New Japan’s roster were upset that he was involved.
They went on to say that had the stars been informed of Scurll’s appearance ahead of time, they would have made it clear they did not want to work the tapings. Fightful also mentioned that the actual taping of the show went fine and there was no incident.
Marty Scurll was released from Ring of Honor last year after allegations surfaced that he had a sexual encounter with a 16-year old girl back in 2015. He was also one of the top stars of the promotion at the time he was released.
