A new report has detailed what WWE performers knew about the company returning to touring prior to the recent announcement.
Yesterday, WWE confirmed that they would be welcoming fans back for live shows in July. The episode of SmackDown on July 16 will be the first show with a live crowd, ahead of Money in the Bank on July 18.
As per Mike Johnson of PWInsider, the announcement didn’t come as a surprise to people backstage… for the most part. WWE performers reportedly were not given a heads up about the announcement, and didn’t know the specific return dates until yesterday.
The report noted that in recent weeks, it had been informally passed along that WWE planned to return to a touring schedule in the near future, so the announcements didn’t seem out of the blue for most of the talent.
WWE reportedly kept their cards close to their chest regarding plans, not only to prevent leaks, but also because plans weren’t concrete due to the pandemic.
The first 3 live shows back will emanate from Texas. The episode of SmackDown will air from the Toyota Center in Houston, while Money in the Bank will take place in the Dickies Arena in Fort Worth. The July 18 edition of Raw will go down in the American Airlines Center in Dallas.
