Backstage Reaction To Vince McMahon Potentially Returning To WWE WWE

According to a new report from Fightful Select, there would not be a lot of joyful reaction to a return to WWE for Vince McMahon.

This comes after the earlier report from Wall Street Journal that cited sources as saying Vince had said he regrets stepping down and “intends” on returning.

While there are a variety of sources, interesting bits include concern for the talent that were rehired in the event of his return as well as one talent describing the news ‘exhausting’.

One longtime staffer within the company referred to morale as growing “tenfold” since the departure of McMahon.

Meanwhile, one “higher up” that Fightful spoke to didn’t express concern for a return, rather noted the strengths since McMahon’s departure.

A source noted increased stock price, viewership and general morale since McMahon’s departure saying:

“It would be a really selfish move for Vince to come back under any circumstances. The reason he left, how business has done since then — it’d be really selfish. But selfish activities are what led to him leaving in the first place.”

The source went on to say that despite having voting power, they did not believe he would return.

Another source had a positive and a negative to share, noting that while there were internally a “few doubters that thought WWE would collapse,” had been proven wrong, including one notable name who has “even admitted as much” per the report.

The report concluded to note:

Fightful spoke with over a dozen staff, talent and employees on December 13 about the Wall Street Journal, and the rarely unanimous reaction was that McMahon was not wanted back in his previous roles.”
