Backstage Reaction To WWE Evolution 2 Announcement

The backstage reaction to the upcoming WWE Evolution 2 premium live event announced last weekend has been revealed.

After it had been reportedly in the works for a number of months, WWE officially announced it’s second all-women’s Evolution pay-per-view event set to take place in Atlanta, Georgia on July 13.

The announcement came during last weekend’s Saturday Night’s Main Event show, and there has now been an update on the backstage reaction to the show’s announcement.

Per Fightful Select (subscription required), while the initial announcement was rumoured for a long time, almost every member of the WWE women’s roster told us that they learned of the show when it was announced publicly.

There were some exceptions, with at least some top talent and one legend being made aware of the show, with the said legend potentially set to be booked for the show.

The reaction to the show internally was actually mixed, with some on the roster understanding what the show means, but taking exception with the ‘curtain call’ element of the first Evolution event, noting that it wasn’t something the company would have had the men on the roster do.

Another name said that, if the show underperforms against the Beyonce concert next door with hotel prices likely increased, it would probably be used as a catalyst to justify not doing it again.

One top talent that spoke to Fightful felt like the company already has too many premium live events as it is, so wasn’t quite sure what they will do at Evolution.

One veteran talent expressed their excitement with the show, and said that they hoped many of the women that don’t get used often get an opportunity to shine, with them also saying they hope that legends can be integrated in with the newer talent to help build things, adding that WWE has to help build it for it to be a success.

There was less excitement regarding this show, but much of that had to do with the general booking of the majority of the division of late, as well as the manner of which the roster found out.
