The WWE backstage reaction to the January 28 Royal Rumble 2023 premium live event has now been revealed.
Last weekend’s event sure was eventful.
Not only did Cody Rhodes and Rhea Ripley punch their tickets to WrestleMania 39 with Royal Rumble wins, Sami Zayn turned on the Bloodline following the Undisputed WWE Universal Championship main event.
Per PWInsider, WWE is extremely happy with the performance of the premium live event.
The report noted that those within WWE are ‘extremely thrilled’ with viewership on Peacock, which was reportedly well up from last year’s viewership.
WrestleVotes recently revealed that several stars impressed WWE on the show, tweeting:
Asked for some thoughts after last night… Source said they are happy w/ how both Rumble matches turned out.
Gunther’s performance in particular along w/ Logan Paul / Ricochet spot “better than even imagined.”
Bloodline angle stole the show, as expected. Exactly why it was last.
Cody Rhodes entered the men’s Rumble as entrant #30 and last eliminated GUNTHER to win the bout. Rhea Ripley entered in the #1 spot and last eliminated Liv Morgan, who started the match as entrant #2.
