WWE revealed earlier this week that The Undertaker will be making his Smackdown Live return on the September 10th TV taping from Madison Square Garden.
The September 10th episode of Smackdown is not only noteworthy for the fact that it is the first TV taping WWE has held at the historic MSG for a number of years, but it is also the go-home episode before Clash of Champions.
Many people speculated that Vince McMahon has only brought The Undertaker back due to low ticket sales.
However, according to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, WWE always planned on having “The Deadman” return on this episode, his comeback allegedly has nothing to do with the fact the company are struggling to shift tickets.
With this in mind, it certainly seems as if WWE is having The Undertaker appear for a very specific reason. Perhaps his return will be used to set up a future match at either Clash of Champions, Hell In A Cell, or WWE’s second event in Saudi Arabia on October 31st.
Others have speculated that in line with his gimmick of attacking WWE legends, Bray Wyatt could bring out “The Fiend” on the episode and attack his WrestleMania 31 opponent.
