Backstage Note On Vince McMahon Involvement With WWE SmackDown WWE

More details have emerged on Vince McMahon’s involvement with Friday’s (July 8) edition of SmackDown.

Earlier that day, a new report from the Wall Street Journal indicated that Vince McMahon has paid over $12 million in “hush money” over the past 16 years to “suppress allegations of sexual misconduct and infidelity”, including a $7.5 million payment to a former WWE wrestler. Prior to the live broadcast, it was reported that Vince McMahon had arrived for the taping, and would be in his regular role directing creative.

PWInsider now reports that the episode was ‘100%’ Vince McMahon’s vision and edicts, with segments changing because it was the ‘Vince McMahon show’. It was noted that McMahon didn’t address or ‘sell’ the Wall Street Journal article, with the allegations again being described as the elephant in the room.

Per the report, Stephanie McMahon and Triple H were not at the taping.
