Shock Backup Plans For The Rock At WrestleMania Revealed

WWE’s plans for The Rock at next year’s WrestleMania have been revealed, per Dave Meltzer in the Wrestling Observer.

According to Meltzer, the desired plan for the show is to do the Roman Reigns vs The Rock singles match. However, WWE has a potential backup plan in case the Rock is not able to work a singles match on the show.

Meltzer says that if concessions have to be made for the Rock due to injury fears, the alternative is Reigns teaming with one of the Usos against The Rock and the other Uso, as WWE would prefer to have The Rock involved on the show in any capacity than not.

Meltzer said:

One idea that has been talked about, as the goal is Reigns and Rock in Dallas for the 2022 Mania, is that if concessions have to be made regarding Rock and movies and injury fears, that they do Reigns and an Uso vs. Rock and an Uso, so Rock can be protected from doing too much and it keeps it all in the family with the idea and Rock and Reigns as who is really the tribal chief. Obviously the singles match is the preferred match but any involvement of Rock is preferred over him not doing the show

It was recently reported that WWE wouldn’t be punishing Jimmy Uso for his DUI due to plans that involve The Rock.

The Rock hasn’t wrestled for WWE since WrestleMania 29, where he lost the WWE Championship to John Cena. This is of course not counting his six second clash with Erick Rowan in Dallas at WrestleMania 32.
