Batista Confirms He’s Done Playing Drax In MCU After Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol. 3 WWE

Dave Bautista, better known to wrestling fans as Batista, has provided a huge update on his future in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Bautista made his MCU debut in the 2014 Guardians of the Galaxy film, playing Drax the Destroyer. The former WWE Champion’s Hollywood career has taken off since then, alongside Bautista’s other MCU movie appearances in Guardians of the Galaxy Volume 2, Avengers Infinity War, Avengers Endgame, Thor Love & Thunder.

He most recently played the fan-favourite character in the Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special which released in late November 2022.

Bautista previously bid farewell to the character of Drax after Guardians of the Galaxy Volume 3 wrapped filming, noting that he was unsure about his future in the MCU.

Speaking with GQ, Bautista confirmed that Guardians of the Galaxy Volume 3 will be his final MCU movie.

Noting that he wants his Hollywood career to go in a different direction, Bautista said:

“I’m so grateful for Drax. I love him, but there’s a relief (that it’s over). It wasn’t all pleasant.

“It was hard playing that role. The makeup process was beating me down.

“And I just don’t know if I want Drax to be my legacy—it’s a silly performance, and I want to do more dramatic stuff.”

Bautista was recently backstage for the December 30 edition of SmackDown. You can read more about the star’s WWE backstage return right here.
