Batista says that he never wanted to be “the next Rock” when he got into acting.
As previously reported, filmmaker Rian Johnson sparked some conversation among wrestling fans after claiming that Batista is the greatest actor-to-wrestler ever.
Dave Bautista is about to end the role that helped launch his career with Drax in Marvel’s The Guardians of the Galaxy films following the upcoming third edition of the series.
Speaking with GQ Magazine, the WWE legend discussed his thought process before making the transition from the ring to Hollywood. He said:
“I never wanted to be the next Rock. I just want to be a good f***ing actor. A respected actor.”
“I’m afraid of things. I’m nervous about things. But I can force myself to do things that make me uncomfortable, because I know I’m not gonna get anywhere if I don’t. I may cringe after the fact, but I’m not going to let that fear hold me back.”
The Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 starring Batista is set to be released in theaters on May 5.
