It has been reported that former WWE star Dave (Batista) Bautista is considering leaving the upcoming Marvel blockbuster Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 if former director James Gunn’s script is not used.
Disney announced last week that the director would be fired after some of his offensive past tweets resurfaced. The tweets featured plenty of dark humor involving that about rape and pedophilia. Despite Gunn apologizing, Disney still let him go to the dismay of the Guardians of the Galaxy cast.
The whole cast penned an open letter voicing their support of Gunn and Bautista has come forward saying he will leave the film if Disney does not use Gunn’s script.
“Where I’m at right now is that if [Marvel] don’t use that script, then I’m going to ask them to release me from my contract, cut me out or recast me. I’d be doing James a disservice if I didn’t.”
Bautista first played the character of Drax the Destroyer in 2014’s Guardians of the Galaxy and then reprised his role in 2017’s Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 and 2018’s Avengers: Infinity War. If Bautista leaves 2020’s Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 he will be one of the biggest actors to quit the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
