Batista Reveals He Tried To Convince Undertaker Not To Fight Goldberg At Super ShowDown

Batista last wrestled at WrestleMania 35 in a No Holds Barred match against long-time rival Triple H. The following day the former WWE Champion revealed that this would be his final match as a wrestler after announcing his immediate retirement.

Along with the aforementioned Triple H, one of Batista’s most storied rivals is The Undertaker, with the pair clashing in a brutal match at WrestleMania 23 over the World Heavyweight Championship.

At WWE Super ShowDown, The Undertaker clashed with Goldberg in a match that was full of botches, with the pair reportedly having a “shouting match” at gorilla position afterwards.

Goldberg has revealed that he managed to knock himself out during the bout, and he was even recorded collapsing after the match as officials helped him to the back.

Batista clearly saw the trainwreck coming as he revealed while speaking to Pro Wrestling Sheet that he personally called the “Deadman” last week, and actually tried to convince him to pull out of the proposed match:

“I called ‘Taker Friday. I called him Friday and I said, ‘hey man, is there any way I can talk you out of this?’ and he just started laughing. He goes, ‘You know, when they talked to me about it a while back it sounded good, but I’m obligated, so we’re doing it.’”

Undertaker will clearly think twice before stepping into the ring again, as he liked a fan’s Instagram comment after the match urging WWE to stop bringing him back.
