AEW Battle of the Belts on January 8 continues to take shape with the addition of a re-match from Christmas Day’s Rampage.
Taking on Cody Rhodes for the TNT Championship will be the former champion Sammy Guevara. The inaugural Battle of the Belts episode of AEW is also being dubbed, “Saturday Fight Night.”
Previously announced for Battle of the Belts is an AEW Women’s World Championship match between champion Dr. Britt Baker and Riho after the latter earned the opportunity by beating Baker in a ‘Black Friday Deal’ match on AEW Dynamite back in November.
Tony Khan has revealed that the show will be one hour long, saying:
“It’s a one hour show. It’s a one hour event, so I can’t put every belt on the line. It’s a great chance on a Saturday night to expand the reach of AEW by giving the fans great championship matches on a Saturday night, which is a night people love watching wrestling, especially for a big event. There is going to be big championship matches. I’m very excited about it.”
Battle of the Belts will air live on TNT on Saturday, January 8, 2022.
