Bayley Pays Homage To Sasha Banks During WWE Raw Match

Bayley made her WWE in-ring return on Raw last night (August 22), and she threw in a lovely little Sasha Banks easter egg.

Bayley was victorious over SmackDown star Aliyah in Aliyah’s hometown of Toronto last night, but one specific spot during the match was a callback to Bayley’s historic match against Sasha Banks at NXT TakeOver: Brooklyn in 2015.

Yesterday was actually the seven-year anniversary of TakeOver: Brooklyn and the Bayley vs Banks match, which it seems Bayley was very aware of, as you can see below in the clip she posted on Instagram comparing the moments in the two matches:

Plenty of WWE stars acknowledged the anniversary on social media, including Banks herself.

The match against Aliyah was Bayley’s first televised match since June 2021 following her comeback from a torn ACL.

She’ll be back in action at WWE Clash at the Castle in Cardiff on September 3, as she, Dakota Kai and IYO SKY face Bianca Belair, Alexa Bliss and Asuka in a six-woman tag.

The most recent reports about the status of Banks and Naomi suggested that they’d agreed to return to WWE, but we’ve yet to see that come to fruition.
