Bayley has been the SmackDown Women’s Champion since October. She has been gaining a fair bit of steam on the blue brand, retaining her title at WrestleMania 36.
Now, she has gone on record making a very interesting comparison. In a recent interview with Sports Illustrated, she was asked who is Michael Jordan and who is Scottie Pippen between herself and Sasha Banks. For non-basketball fans, the question is basically who is the leader and who is the sidekick. Here is the quote:
“Honestly, I don’t know, it’s hard to say that. I always say that Sasha is the greatest of all-time, and I truly believe that, even though I am the champion right now and a Grand Slam women’s champion and I’ve won Money in the Bank. I’ve done a lot of things, but I wouldn’t be able to do all of that without her and learning from her mindset. So if she wants to be Jordan, that’s OK. I was always a Kobe fan, so maybe I can be Kobe and she can be Jordan,”
Considering Michael Jordan and Kobe Bryant are two of the best basketball players ever, with the former being maybe THE best player ever, this is going to turn a lot of heads.
ESPN is currently airing The Last Dance, a documentary series chronicling Michael Jordan’s last year with the Chicago Bulls. This is likely what inspired this line of questioning.
