Becky Lynch Could Pull Double Duty At Royal Rumble

Becky Lynch Could Pull Double Duty At Royal Rumble

Aside from the two Royal Rumble matches, there are four main title matches taking place on Sunday, one of which is Asuka defending her SmackDown Live Women’s Championship against former champion and greatest human on earth, Becky Lynch.

It is widely expected that Asuka will retain her title, whether that’s clean or due to outside interference, so it asks the question: How will Becky challenge Ronda Rousey for their widely rumoured match at WrestleMania 35?

Well, according to Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, a story has been pitched for Becky to enter the Rumble and win, despite already having had a match.

“There was a storyline pitched where Becky Lynch would fail to beat Asuka and then come back to win the Rumble and challenge Rousey. Lynch and Flair would go in as the co-favorites.”

As you can see, Dave also notes that Charlotte Flair is also a favourite to win the match, which would also play into rumoured storylines heading into WrestleMania, as a triple-threat between Ronda, Becky and Charlotte seems to be the way we are heading.

A favourite fan theory is that Becky and Charlotte will both win the Rumble, much like the 1994 Rumble when both Bret Hart and Lex Luger won. This would allow both women to challenge Ronda to make the match.

Betting sites currently like Charlotte as the favourite, but if WWE are looking to please fans, a surprise Becky entrance and subsequent win would surely be the way to go.
