The first look of Becky Lynch as Cyndi Lauper in Young Rock has been revealed.
Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson shared the image of Lynch in costume on set in an Instagram post.
In it, Becky Lynch bears an uncanny resemblance to the Grammy Award-winning artist, who made notable appearances on WWE (then WWF) during the ‘Rock ‘n’ Wrestling Connection’ era during the 80s. Lynch sports Lauper’s signature hair and bangles in her acting debut.
Dwayne Johnson posted an encouraging caption alongside the photo, recalling Lynch’s audition for the role.
Johnson wrote:
Officially welcoming @beckylynchwwe to our YOUNG ROCK cast 🔥🔥
Becky takes on the daunting and FUN task of playing the one and only – the icon Cyndi Lauper.
I was right there for Becky’s audition and we were all very impressed at her high level commitment as an actor to become Cyndi Lauper.
No easy task, but she worked her butt off and went all in – and crushed it.
CAN’T WAIT for you guys to see Becky’s acting debut!!!
TOMORROW NIGHT ON @NBC!
The Young Rock series is based on the life of Dwayne Johnson and is about to begin its third season.
Becky Lynch will feature as Cyndi Lauper in the season premiere that is scheduled to air on NBC on Friday, November 4 at 8.30pm ET.
The show features flashbacks segments to periods in Johnson’s life with a recurring cast of legendary wrestlers played by actors including Andre the Giant and The Rock’s father and namesake, Rocky Johnson.
Becky Lynch is currently away from the wrestling ring while she recovers from a separated shoulder that she sustained in her match against Bianca Belair at SummerSlam on July 2022.
Recently, Lynch was pictured without an arm brace, leading fans to speculate that she may be well on her way to a full recovery and making an in-ring return.
