Report: Becky Lynch Summerslam Babyface Turn Wouldn’t Have Happened With Vince McMahon In Charge WWE

It’s been reported that another huge SummerSlam takeaway involving Becky Lynch wouldn’t have happened if Vince McMahon was still in charge.

As you likely know by now, the opening match of the show saw Bianca Belair retain the Raw Women’s Championship over Becky Lynch, and the two shared a moment of respect before Belair’s celebration was interrupted by Bayley, Dakota Kai, and IYO SKY (Io Shirai).

The trio confronted Belair three-on-one before Lynch got back in the ring on Belair’s side, seemingly cementing a babyface turn.

It was already reported by Fightful that Vince had rejected the idea of the Bayley/Kai/SKY faction months ago, but that’s not the only part of the story.

According to Wade Keller of PWTorch, McMahon wouldn’t have turned Lynch babyface either. Keller said:

“I can now confirm Becky was not gonna turn if Vince McMahon was still in control. That was a Paul Levesque call. I just got confirmation on that. She would have been a heel as we’re talking right now if McMahon was still running things. So, one big change early on there.”

While Lynch turning heel last year was originally her own idea, fans have always assumed she would have turned back eventually, because she’s just way too likeable.

With Lynch turning babyface and Ronda Rousey turning heel, it seems the dynamic is now what you’d describe as “the right way around” if WWE still wants to do a match between the two at WrestleMania 39.
