Bella Twins Reveal They Would Come Out Of Retirement For Tag Team Title Match

It was reported a few days ago that former WWE Divas Champion Nikki Bella would retiring from in-ring competition. The star of Total Bella’s revealed on the season finale of the show that she had decided to hang up her boots and step away from the ring. She also noted that she and her sister Brie would be starting a new podcast, “The Bellas Podcast”.

Nikki’s decision followed the announcement that her sister Brie made a few weeks back, stating that she had decided her wrestling days were over.

The duo have already spoken about the idea of coming out of retirement. On the first edition of their podcast, the Bella Twins revealed that they would consider a return to the ring if it involved a match for the new Women’s Tag Team Championships. Brie said:

‘Nicole and I did tell everyone that we are stepping away from the ring, which is true, we are. But we also said that before the WWE Women’s Tag Team Titles came into place. This is the thing, for years we were begging for the Women’s Tag Team Titles. Begging. We never thought it could truly be a reality. The fact that it is now, makes it extremely tempting for us to go back and fight for them because we’re really the longest reigning, most authentic tag team.”

Nikki would go on to add that she thought the Bella Twins were “the only real, true blood, tag team”. The season finale of Total Bellas, where Nikki made her retirement announcement, was filmed in late 2018. This would have been before the WWE Women’s Tag Team Championship were introduced, so it is plausible that their introduction could have caused the sisters to change their minds.

The Bella Twins will likely return at some stage as according to TMZ, Nikki left WWE on good terms and will still be working for WWE as an ambassador. They also state that the door was ”definitely open” for the pair to make a return to the ring in the future, as long as the timing was right.
