Fans speculated that Aleister Black, who hasn’t been used on TV since Zelina Vega was released by the company in November 2020, had been taken off TV because higher-ups saw nothing in him, but this reportedly isn’t the case.
Mike Johnson revealed on PWInsider Elite (subscription required), that WWE actually took Aleister Black off TV with the intention of having him re-debut in a big way, although those plans haven’t come to fruition yet:
“I was told he was purposely pulled from television so he comeback andhave a big dramatic debut for SmackDown, and it just hasn’t happened.”
There is no word on if the plans that WWE had for a big return for Aleister Black on Friday Night SmackDown have now been dropped, but stay tuned to WrestleTalk.com for any potential updates.
Some have speculated that Aleister Black is going to be part of the men’s Royal Rumble match next weekend, but that has not been confirmed or reported from any sources.
Aleister Black has not appeared on WWE TV since the October 12 episode of Friday Night SmackDown, where he was defeated in singles action by fellow former NXT Champion, Kevin Owens.
