During tonight’s episode of WWE NXT, a big change was made to the five-man North American Championship ladder match at TakeOver: XXX.
Dexter Lumis qualified last week in a three-way against Finn Bálor and Timothy Thatcher, but WWE has now announced that Lumis has been pulled from the match due to injury.
WWE tweeted:
Unfortunately, due to injury, @DexterLumis has been removed from the #NorthAmericanTitle #LadderMatch.
Therefore, in two weeks on #WWENXT , there will be two one-on-one matches between the Superstars who were not pinned or submitted in their respective #TripleThreat Matches.
As it stands, the men who weren’t pinned in their three-ways were Johnny Gargano, Finn Bálor and Ridge Holland. Next week’s three-way will be Kushida vs Cameron Grimes vs a mystery opponent.
It was also confirmed that Dakota Kai would be challenging Io Shirai for the Women’s Championship at TakeOver by way of a win over Rhea Ripley thanks to Mercedes Martinez interference. Other matches that haven’t been officially confirmed but look all but certain are Keith Lee defending the NXT Title against Karrion Kross, and Adam Cole vs Pat McAfee.
