Big E Reveals Origins Of Signature Apron Spear

Big E has recently talked about his apron spear, revealing that a WWE veteran helped him develop the signature move.

Big E’s “spear suicida” quickly became part of his regular move-set a number of years ago. The former Intercontinental Champion has revealed that Fit Finlay suggested that he should use the devastating tackle.

Speaking on New Day: Feel The Power, Big E noted that he hated the spot where wrestlers would miss the corner-spear. Big E stated that Finlay persuaded him to try the move while his opponent was on the apron.

Blaming Finlay, Big E said:

“The apron spear came from Fit Finlay. I always hated when people would hit the post on the spear in the corner. When do people ever hit that? I thought, ‘I’ll be the guy who actually does hit a running shoulder attack in the corner.

“Fit is like, ‘Why don’t you just do that while your opponent is on the apron?’ I was like, ‘What?’ At the time, I didn’t have much stuff in my offense, so I figured I’d give it a shot. All you people complaining about me almost killing myself, blame Fit Finlay.”

On the May 21 episode of SmackDown, Big E was part of the Intercontinental Championship four-way match. Big E was pinned by Apollo Crews, who had an assist from Aleister Black.

Black was released by WWE earlier this week. Following the news, Black discussed his WWE departure during a Twitch livestream.
