Big E Says WWE Title Loss Will Be Great For Raw Star’s Career WWE

There was a title change on WWE Raw, and Big E has said that he believes it will be seen as a ‘great moment’ in one star’s career.

Last night’s episode of WWE Raw saw Dominik Mysterio defend the Intercontinental Championship against John Cena.

Not only was the November 10 episode of WWE Raw the first televised match between the pair, but it was the first time that John Cena held the Intercontinental Championship.

The nearly fifteen-minute match saw plenty of underhand attempts by Dirty Dom to retain, but Cena would go on to be victorious, with Big E sharing his thoughts on the post-show Raw Recap.

Big E would reflect upon the achievement of Mysterio, not competing in a squash, calling it a “big moment” for the now former champion, saying:

“I know that it’s a losing effort, but I do love this for Dom. We have what, four more weeks of John Cena’s career, and Dominik Mysterio is not in a squash match with John Cena, he’s going toe to toe with John Cena, he’s getting mic time with John Cena.

“I understand that he lost the title to Cena, but I think this was a big moment for Dom. ‘Passing of the torch moment’ might not be the right way to put it, but I think it is a big cosign that yeah, Dom is a guy who we’re going to invest in for a long time.

“I think for me, one of the big markers was seeing him face to face with John Cena, I didn’t see one iota of trepidation on Dom’s face. I didn’t see a second of ‘Is this moment too big?’ I saw a dude who thought ‘Not only do I deserve to be here, but I’m better than you, and I’m gonna prove that in all aspects.’

“He didn’t get the job done, but I love this for Dom, and I think this is going to be a moment we look back on when Dom is a world champion, who knows, a year, two years from now, whenever that time comes. I think we’ll look back at pivotal moments in his career, his ascension to that top spot, and we’ll look at this as a great moment in his career.”

Cena and Mysterio have faced each other in singles action previously, albeit in a dark match back in September 2023.

With John Cena’s WWE career coming to an end next month, the next two matches in the ‘Last Time Is Now’ Tournament were also confirmed on last night’s Raw.

The WWE Intercontinental Championship wasn’t the only one to change hands on Raw, with Alexa Bliss and Charlotte Flair also coming up short against their challengers for the Women’s Tag Team Championship.
