There has been another big hint to suggest a former champion in WWE will be returning to the company following a lot of speculation.
It’s been rumored for a while that Davey Boy Smith Jr (David Hart Smith), real name Harry Smith, could be making a return, and it seems to be getting more and more likely.
As noted by Dave Meltzer in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, the fact that Smith isn’t on the upcoming April 8 Bloodsport show appears to “give away” that he’s signed with WWE. Meltzer had reported he’d be returning a while ago.
Talks are said to have gone back to over a year ago, with the idea he could be one of the top stars on the NXT UK brand.
Meltzer noted it could even be announced at the Hall of Fame since his father, the British Bulldog, is being inducted this year.
It’s unknown whether AEW made him an offer. He did meet with Tony Khan at a party last year while still under contract with MLW, and Jim Ross is believed to be a big fan.
