Big Match Signed For NJPW BOSJ Finals

Big Match Signed For NJPW BOSJ Finals

New Japan Pro Wrestling has announced that Hiroshi Tanahashi will face Jay White at the Best of the Super Juniors Finals. This will be Tanahashi’s first match back after taking a brief hiatus.

Jay White made it clear that he felt Tanahashi needs to go to the back of the line in regards to the IWGP Heavyweight Championship. Tanahashi lost the title to White at New Beginning in Osaka earlier this year. White would also not hold the championship long, as he dropped it to Kazuchika Okada at G1 Supercard.

The winner of this match will likely be next in line for an IWGP Heavyweight Championship match after Chris Jericho challenges at Dominion.

Now the two are set to compete in their rematch at the Best of the Super Juniors Finals. The pair currently hold a 2-2 record in singles competition. Tanahashi defeated White to retain the IWGP Intercontinental Championship at Wrestle Kingdom 12, while White evened the score by defeating Tanahashi in the G1 Climax. In the months that followed, Tanahashi once again defeated White, this time at King of Pro Wrestling. Finally, White took the IWGP Heavyweight Championship from Tanahashi in Osaka.

This is the first official match confirmed for the Best of the Super Juniors Finals. The tournament finals will also take place, although we do not know who will be competing. A mysterious challenger has appeared to challenge Juice Robinson to a match at the event. However, we do not yet know who he is or if Robinson will accept.

The Best of the Super Juniors Finals will take place on June 5th in Osaka.
