If you’ve been watching WWE TV since WrestleMania 38, where Roman Reigns became the undisputed champion by defeating Brock Lesnar, you’d be forgiven for thinking he’s not appearing at WrestleMania Backlash next weekend on May 8.
However, according to Dave Meltzer on the latest Wrestling Observer Radio, Roman will be on the card, and not just that, but he’ll be in the main event. Meltzer said:
“So the Roman Reigns thing, we were talking a couple of days ago about, since they haven’t shot any angle with him, maybe they’re doing a pay-per-view without him. And that is not the case. He is in fact in the main event, and I presume they’ll shoot the angle on Friday, I don’t know that as a fact, but he is in the main event on the WrestleMania Backlash pay-per-view.”

Judging by the past few weeks of SmackDown, his opponent will likely be Shinsuke Nakamura, who was beaten up by the Usos recently, but this is WWE so it really could be anyone at this stage.
The over-arching storyline appears to be Reigns taking on Cody Rhodes at some point in the relatively near future, but as Cody is facing Seth Rollins at WrestleMania Backlash, Roman needs some filler opponents first.
