Big Update On Women’s Wrestling In NJPW NJPW/STARDOM

While the AEW x NJPW Forbidden Door pay-per-view was a great success for both the companies and the fans alike, there was one thing that fans couldn’t help but notice.

Only one match on the entire show pit two stars from the same company against each other, which saw Thunder Rosa retain her AEW Women’s World Championship against Toni Storm, both from AEW.

This was due to NJPW not having a women’s division, which has now been addressed by NJPW president Takami Ohbari.

In the NJPW Business Strategy Presentation last night, Ohbari noted that, in an attempt to adapt to the overseas expectations, women’s stars from the Stardom promotion will be appearing on the New Japan of America shows moving forward.

AEW president Tony Khan also expressed his interest in working with Stardom during the Forbidden Door post-show media scrum.
