Big WWE Announcer Change Update

A big update has emerged regarding a change to the WWE announce team going forward following today’s SmackDown in Barcelona, Spain.

Today’s show was a return to Spain for Lilian Garcia, who has been the SmackDown ring announcer since the start of the year.

However, she has since announced that it was also her last SmackDown as the full-time ring announcer for the brand.

In a video posted on Instagram, Garcia said she’ll be on ring announcing duties for all the WWE Saturday Night’s Main Event specials going forward – of which there are four per year – and working with WWE on other projects.

There’s no word yet on who will be replacing Garcia on SmackDown – as things stand, Alicia Taylor is the allocated ring announcer for Raw, with Mike Rome on NXT, although the duties have been pretty flexible in recent months and Garcia even stood in for Rome on NXT last week.

Rome was the ring announcer for Raw this past Monday instead of Taylor, but was also on duty for NXT the following night as well.

Garcia made a return to WWE on a full-time basis in October 2024 to replace the departing Samantha Irvin.

Captioning her Instagram video, she wrote:

Just finished announcing SmackDown in Barcelona, Spain and it was absolutely incredible!! Gracias por todo el amor España! ❤️

But now I have some news that this was my last show as the full-time SmackDown announcer. A new era is upon us BUT I will still be with the company as I will be announcing for all @wwe Saturday Night’s Main Event shows on @nbc & @peacock , singing at certain special events, AND currently working on other show ideas with WWE! 😉

WWE is my home so stay tuned as a new chapter begins… I invite all of you to continue this journey with me as we share it together!! 📖🤸🏼‍♀️
