Bill Goldberg Back In Training For WWE In-Ring Return

One of the most surprising aspects of WWE confirming its return to Saudi Arabia on June 7 was not that the promotion is going through with running an event in the nation again (that was inevitable and will remain the case for the next nine years). Rather it was the announcement that WWE Hall of Famer Bill Goldberg would be wrestling on the show.

Goldberg made a memorable WWE comeback in 2016 following 12 years away, destroying Brock Lesnar in record time at Survivor Series. The following January he competed in the Royal Rumble match then a couple of months later dethroned Kevin Owens to become Universal Champion.

Goldberg’s first and only defence of the title came in a defeat to Brock Lesnar at WrestleMania 33 in Orlando, a pulsating match that was perhaps the best thing on the card. It was the last time the 52-year-old stepped into the ring.

But now the lure of Saudi millions has convinced Goldberg to lace up his boots again. Bobby Lashley looks likely to be the man staring back at him from across the ring come June 7, following a social media tete-a-tete between the two powerhouses.

One month out from the show, Goldberg has already began training for his comeback, hitting the Extreme Power Gym in Oceanside, California to train with Muay Thai master Ruben Rowell Jr. Goldberg shared an image of his training efforts on his Instagram account earlier:

The other matches rumoured for the as yet unnamed supercard are a WrestleMania rematch for the Universal Title between Seth Rollins and Brock Lesnar and a first-time-ever clash between Elias and The Undertaker, which was set up on the WrestleMania Monday episode of Raw.
