Billy Gunn Reveals He’s Signed To Two AEW Contracts AEW

WWE Hall of Famer Billy Gunn has confirmed he’s actually signed to two separate contracts with All Elite Wrestling (AEW).

Gunn works as a coach/agent backstage for AEW, but he also appears as an on-screen talent and wrestler, so he has two separate contracts for the two roles.

This is because backstage personnel are “employees” of the company, whereas talent are “independent contractors”, otherwise known as technically self-employed/freelance.

Speaking at a recent K&S WrestleFest signing, Gunn said:

“Yeah, they have to do two contracts because they can’t loop them all together. You can’t loop the employee and talent because it’s, you know, a self-employed kind of deal. So, in reality, yeah, you’d like to just have one contract that says you do different things, but for some reason, you can’t do it that way for business bookkeeping or whatever.”

Gunn has been featured pretty prominently on AEW TV in recent weeks and months as the promotion built the alliance of the Acclaimed and the Gunn Club, but that came to an end last week when the Gunn Club turned on the Acclaimed.

AEW had teased that Billy Gunn would actually signed with the Acclaimed, but that wasn’t the case and he sided with his sons Austin and Colten instead.

Billy’s last match came on the Forbidden Door pre-show when he teamed with his two sons and Max Caster of the Acclaimed to beat NJPW’s Alex Coughlin, DKC, Kevin Knight and Yuya Uemura.

Leva Bates also recently revealed she’s signed to do different contracts, one for her backstage role, and one as a talent.
