Former AEW Women’s World Champion Mariah May, now known as Blake Monroe, has opened up about joining WWE and NXT.
Monroe made her debut NXT appearance a couple of weeks ago and immediately inserted herself into the NXT Women’s Championship picture.
Today, she posted a new vlog on her YouTube channel which was filmed just a few hours before her appearance.
She emotionally explained how joining WWE was a dream come true, and specifically said that she was feeling dejected around the end of last year, but fell in love with wrestling again when she started training at Flatbacks, which is the wrestling school run by Shawn Spears and Tyler Breeze.
She said:
“I never really thought I would be in WWE. I don’t know if I felt not good enough or there were just different plans for me. Because wrestling is amazing and there are so many different experiences and things you can do, which I think is so great.
“I think I felt a little dejected at the end of last year and I didn’t know it was an option for me. And I started training again. I actually started training at Flatbacks, which is an amazing school. I was training in Atlanta. I just fell in love with wrestling again. I fell in love with wrestling again. I felt like I was back in the game.”
