A new update has emerged on the status of Bobby Fish and his relationship with AEW after his contract expired and wasn’t renewed.
Fish’s deal came to an end on August 31 and he’s now officially a free agent.
A lot of people were surprised at the decision not to renew him because he was in a group with Adam Cole and Kyle O’Reilly, and it seemed AEW had a vision for a feud pitting those three against Kenny Omega and the Young Bucks.
Regarding the decision, Dave Meltzer reported in the latest Wrestling Observer Newsletter that “both sides couldn’t come to an agreement right now”, but “the door is not closed” on them coming to an agreement at some point in the future.
Before his deal expired, Fish had been pretty outspoken in interviews about being unhappy with how he was being used, as well as having some high praise for WWE head of creative Triple H.
Despite Fish’s departure, it’s been reported that Adam Cole and Kyle O’Reilly signed five-year contracts, so, unless they request to be released and AEW grants it, they won’t be able to join Fish wherever he goes.
