A brand new championship was unveiled at tonight’s WWE Raw taping in Arizona, actually before the show itself went on the air.
UPDATE – A clip of the reveal was shown during Raw, along with confirmation that the tournament to determine the first ever champion will begin next week.
As you can see in the video below, Raw General Manager Adam Pearce revealed the new Women’s Intercontinental Championship in front of the live crowd.
This will of course be the Raw counterpart to SmackDown’s new Women’s United States Championship that Nick Aldis announced recently.
A tournament is currently ongoing for the US Title featuring only SmackDown talent, which led to it being clear there would be a Raw equivalent coming as well.
Other than the reveal in front of the live crowd, WWE hasn’t actually said anything in an official capacity regarding the Women’s Intercontinental Title yet.
We’ll keep you posted with any further updates.
