Brand New Championship Revealed On WWE SmackDown WWE

A brand new championship was officially revealed during tonight’s November 8 episode of WWE SmackDown on USA Network.

Before SmackDown tonight, General Manager Nick Aldis took to social media to state he would be had a “history-making announcement” in store for the show.

Well, we now know what that announcement is, as Nick Aldis unveiled the first ever WWE Women’s United States Championship belt, as you can see below – the belt is essentially just the same as the men’s version, but with a white strap.

Going back a few months now, it had been reported that there were talks that both a US Title and Intercontinental Championship for the women’s division were set to be introduced.

There was no Intercontinental Title mentioned tonight, but that would of course land on the Raw brand, so we’ll keep you posted on that.

NXT debuted a ‘second-tier’ women’s championship in the NXT Women’s North American Championship in June, with the inaugural champion being Kelani Jordan, who held it for 140 days before dropping it to Fallon Henley at Halloween Havoc just a couple of weeks ago.

In women’s division action on tonight’s WWE SmackDown, Bayley picked up a win over Candice LeRae, and Bianca Belair & Jade Cargill beat Nia Jax & Tiffany Stratton in a tag match.
