It is with deep sadness that we must report that former WWE star Kamala has passed away. Real name James Harris, Kamala’s cause of death is not known as of this writing. He was 70 years old.
He was a very memorable character during his time in WWE during the 80s and 90s. ‘The Ugandan Giant’ was not the most tasteful character ever created, but his work led to feuds with stars such as The Undertaker and Hulk Hogan. His career would continue until health problems forced him to retire for good in 2010.
Since his retirement, Kamala has dealt with a number of health issues. In 2011, he had to have his left foot amputated due to complications with high blood pressure and diabetes. Then, in November of 2017, he had to undergo emergency surgery to remove fluid from around his lungs and heart. He would also need to have his right leg amputated as well.
Since his death was announced, it has been revealed that he tested positive for COVID-19 earlier this week, and that he was hospitalised shortly after.
