Bret Hart Says Goldberg & Current WWE Name Were ‘Trying To Kill Him’ In The Ring WWE

Bret Hart has said that Goldberg and a current WWE name were “trying to kill him” when they worked together in WCW.

The WWE Hall of Famer has been outspoken in his criticism of Goldberg over the years, with Hart laying blame on Goldberg for prematurely ending The Hitman’s in-ring career due to an errant kick during a match at WCW Starrcade in 1999, which caused a serious concussion.

Whilst speaking at a virtual signing for Signed by Superstars, Hart spoke about Goldberg once again, as well as another former WCW star Booker T – more specifically the current WWE NXT commentator’s Scissor Kick finishing move.

Hart reflected on the move, calling it “really dangerous”, stating that between Booker T and Goldberg he felt like they were “trying to kill him”.

Hart said:

“Man, that’s a really dangerous move, that one (Bret said while looking at photo of Booker T doing Scissors Kick to him) … When he did that to me, it drove my head right into the mat… Between him and Goldberg, they were trying to kill me.

“That was a really dangerous move. I had to tell him stop. He couldn’t do it to me anymore. He (did it to) me two or three times and every time he did, drove my head right into the — almost right through the boards.”

Despite wrestling several matches in the weeks after his match with Goldberg at Starrcade 1999, Hart would wrestle his last match in January 2000 – remaining retired until a brief run in WWE in 2010-2011.
