New Impact Champion Brian Cage has been rushed to hospital after suffering a potentially serious back injury during his title win over Johnny Impact at last night’s Impact Rebellion show.
It is believed the injury happened when Cage took a nasty looking bump during a Spanish Fly from the entrance ramp to the floor. Cage was able to continue and finish the match, but it is being reported that he was having trouble walking after the match and was taken to hospital.
He has since taken to Twitter with an update on the injury, and it’s not looking good:
Not how I wanted or ever imagined this incredible night would end. I’ve chased this moment and have dreamt about this my entire life. And to have this be the outcome, I’d be lying if I said it didn’t break my heart. pic.twitter.com/Ogj7lD7L0x

Cage was confronted after the match by a debuting Michael Elgin, who recently left NJPW. We will have to wait and see whether Cage will be fit enough to defend his new belt in the future.
We wish Brian a quick recovery and hope the injury he suffered is nothing too serious or career-threatening.
