A former WWE name has spoken of his desire to see a legendary tag team reunite in the future, potentially even in AEW.
Speaking to Steve Fall of Wrestlingnews.co, former WWE writer Brian Gerwitz has weighed in on the future of WWE Hall of Famer Edge and the reports linking the Rated R Superstar to a potential move to AEW.
While Edge has clarified his WWE future courtesy of a video posted to Twitter, speculation has continued to mount.
Addressing Edge’s future, Gerwitz suggested that the 11-time champion will have zero regrets or unfinished business in WWE due to his remarkable return to the ring in 2020.
“He (Edge) certainly, in my opinion, doesn’t have anything to look back on and go, ‘Oh, if only I had done that.’
“He’s had a pretty full, amazing career over 25 years. He’s going to be 50 in November. He’s a husband and father. He has a budding acting career.
“Pretty much, he could do whatever he sets his mind to do at this point. So, I don’t know.
“Physically, he came back. Everyone was astonished when he came back at the Royal Rumble a few years ago and didn’t really miss a step, didn’t miss a beat.
“And Christian is back, too, in AEW, and it’s really astonishing and also heartwarming to see.”
Speaking of Christian Cage, many fans have pointed to Captain Charisma’s presence in AEW as a potential factor in a move to AEW given his close friendship with Edge, and history as a tag team.
On a potential Edge and Christian reunion in the future Gerwitz said:
“I think (the decision comes down to) whatever Edge is feeling right now.
“As a fan, I’d love to see him and Christian (reunite)… They’re definitely different, very vastly different, characters currently, right now, but I’d still, as a fan, love to see them work together at AEW, WWE, some weird independent show, whatever it is.”
While we’re no closer to knowing Edge’s next steps in the world of wrestling, a budding WWE star and someone who has notable history with the Rated R Superstar has commented on the possibility of matching a legendary feat from the Toronto-native’s career, click here to read on.
