Real Reason Brian Kendrick Returned To WWE At Survivor Series WWE

Brian Kendrick returned to WWE behind the scenes at Survivor Series. The real reason for his return has now been revealed.

At Survivor Series on November 26,  Shotzi unsuccessfully challenge Ronda Rousey for the SmackDown Women’s Championship.

As previously reported, Jason Jordan and Brian Kendrick were listed as producers for the match-up.

On the latest Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer explained that Rousey requested for Kendrick to be brought in.

He said:

“What happened was, Brian Kendrick was Ronda Rousey’s original wrestling trainer, and she suggested, she asked, for him to be brought in for her match with Shotzi. So he was in on Saturday, and it was not a hire.

“You could say it was a tryout, I wouldn’t say it wasn’t a tryout, but it really wasn’t like a normal tryout. It was more Ronda Rousey asked for him to help her.

“Jason Jordan also produced it, but she asked for Brian to be brought in, so they brought him in.”

Brian Kendrick is a former WWE Cruiserweight Champion and Tag Team Champion.

His most recent run with WWE saw him transition into a backstage producer in 2020.

Kendrick was scheduled for an in-ring return in December 2021 on NXT TV, however, the match did not go ahead.

It was later reported he’d asked for his release from WWE, which was granted in February 2022.

A planned AEW debut was scheduled soon after for February 2 during Dynamite, where Kendrick was billed to face Jon Moxley.

He was pulled from the show after video clips of Kendrick discussing conspiracy theories related to the Holocaust resurfaced.

The clips had been filmed around a decade previous.

While it isn’t clear if Kendrick’s producing shot was a ‘trial’, Ronda Rousey is certainly a good in-road to have if he wishes to return to WWE.
