AEW star Brian Pillman Jr has made an intriguing pitch for an AEW x WWE crossover show.
Many fans have been fantasy booking a card for an event featuring both WWE and AEW names, following Tony Khan recently noting that he’d be open to talking with WWE about a potential joint show.
Pillman Jr has taken to Twitter with a pitch for an inter-promotional Cruiserweight Classic event named after his late father.
Believing that a junior heavyweight card featuring talent from AEW, WWE and NJPW would slap, Pillman Jr tweeted:
“The Flyin Brian Cruiserweight Classic! Invite New Japan as well. Use clips of Owen, Liger, and pops to promote the history of cruiserweight wrestling. I’ll be the guest referee cause I’m like 240 pounds now and probably wouldn’t qualify as a cruiserweight lol. Matches would slap!
“Will (Ospreay), Ricochet, PAC, and Fenix in the semi-finals, don’t @ me!”
This all comes after AEW and NJPW’s first crossover event, Forbidden Door, which took place on June 26. In the main event of the show, Jon Moxley defeated Hiroshi Tanahashi to win the AEW Interim World Title.
Tanahashi has named the AEW stars that impressed him the most at the event, which you can read about right here.
Pillman Jr’s most recent AEW match aired on the June 21 edition of Dark, with Pillman, Griff Garrison & Brock Anderson scoring a victory over Larry Lazard, Terry Yaki & Jay Lucas.
