An update has emerged regarding Britt Baker’s AEW status amid rumors that she’s seeking an exit from the company.
With her last appearance on AEW programming coming back in November, speculation regarding the status of former AEW Women’s World Champion Britt Baker has been prevalent throughout 2025.
Earlier this month Jonathan Coachman claimed that Baker was WWE bound on his ‘Behind the Turnbuckle’ podcast, something that was later refuted by Fightful Select, with Baker signing a five year contract with AEW in 2021.
On the latest Wrestling Observer Radio, both Dave Meltzer and Bryan Alvarez weighed in with what they had heard regarding Baker’s status in AEW.
Addressing Coachman’s claims, Meltzer said:
“Coach (Jonathan Coachman) said she’s on her way, she wants to go to WWE. Nobody’s denied that to me but nobody’s said anything of any note. I know people in AEW don’t think there’s anything to that but we’ll see.”

Alvarez then added that he has heard no new updates on Baker’s potential AEW exit or her return to the company’s programming, saying:
“I heard she’s still got time left on her deal and there’s been nothing new in terms of coming back and nothing new in terms of imminently leaving. So it appears nothing is going on right now.”

Baker missed almost a year of in-ring competition between the Fall of 2023 and Summer of 2024, a time that she dealt with health issues including suffering a mini-stroke.
She returned to immediately feud with and compete against Mercedes Mone for the AEW TBS Championship at All In London last August, but was unsuccessful in her title challenge.
She made a handful of further appearances on AEW TV up until November, with her last match coming against Penelope Ford on the November 13 episode of Dynamite.
We will provide further updates on Baker’s AEW status as news becomes available.
