Former AEW Women’s Champion Britt Baker has commented on the possibility of a dream match against AJ Lee (AJ Mendez).
Speaking with Sportskeeda Wrestling, Baker noted that she’d love to see AJ return to the ring, noting that she was an inspiration to many women in wrestling.
When asked if she sees a match between herself and the former WWE Divas Champion coming to fruition, Baker said:
“I think you have to ask her that, not me. I think I would love to see AJ Lee in the ring again. She did so much for women’s wrestling and I think there’s so much more that she can do, even if she doesn’t know that there are so many girls that still look up to her, myself included.
“Now I see myself on an even playing field as her, I think I could – I feel like I could be better than AJ. So, let’s get in the ring and see! I would love for her to come out of retirement, I would love for her to be in an AEW ring, I would love to possibly have a tag match.”
AJ’s husband CM Punk is the current AEW World Champion. Baker’s partner, Adam Cole, is also signed to AEW.
AJ hasn’t wrestled since leaving WWE in April 2015. Her last match saw her team with Naomi and Paige to face off against Natalya & the Bella Twins on the March 30 edition of WWE Raw.
She notably returned to the wrestling industry in October 2021, when she was announced as an executive producer for Women of Wrestling.
Following her WWE departure earlier this month, Paige recently expressed interest in a match against Britt Baker.
