AEW Women’s Champion Britt Baker has recalled WWE showing interest in her, believing that you ‘can’t trust anything’ with the company.
In October 2021, Baker confirmed reports that WWE was hopeful about signing her, noting that the interest wasn’t mutual.
Speaking with Kenny McIntosh for Inside The Ropes, the AEW star has now explained that she doesn’t find WWE desirable, as she feels talents cannot trust the company. Baker said:
“I mean, exactly, I can’t disagree with you. They definitely expressed interest—unfortunately, I’ve got to pick and choose how I say this—but I just feel like you can’t trust anything with that company, whereas at AEW, I’ve never been promised anything that didn’t follow through.
“So it’s something that, unfortunately, it’s sad that it comes down to that, that it makes a company not really desirable because you can’t trust anything they say. And I know business is business, and I understand totally that’s what it is, but as a wrestler, business is business as well.”
Baker is set to team with her real-life partner, Adam Cole, on Wednesday’s edition of AEW Dynamite. The couple will face off against Kris Statlander & Orange Cassidy in mixed tag team action.
