AEW Star Praises CM Punk For Being Helpful AEW

Second-generation AEW star Brock Anderson had some nice words for a CM Punk, at a time when the former champion is mired in controversy.

Punk was suspended from AEW following All Out 2022, after criticising several members of the company’s management, and allegedly getting into a physical altercation also involving Ace Steel and AEW EVPs Kenny Omega and the Young Bucks.

Despite the controversy, Brock Anderson had some positive things to say about Punk’s behaviour following a match between himself and Lee Johnson vs FTR in a recent interview on The Family Business.

He said:

“After the match … when we came back through the curtain, he motioned us over and said, ‘Come here, I want to talk to you.

“He pulls me and Lee into his room and says, ‘All right, what do you think you did right?’ … He told us what we did right, and it wasn’t even what we thought it was.

“For a guy of CM Punk’s magnitude who was the top guy in the business at that time to take the time to say to two greenhorns ‘let me show you what you did right, what you did wrong and what you can improve on’ was really cool.”

Steel was released from the company, while the others involved remain suspended. However, there have been indications that Omega and the Young Bucks will be coming back to AEW television imminently, after a video package on the latest AEW Dynamite (October 26) teased their return.

Sources close to Punk have indicated that he could return to wrestling, though whether that would be with AEW or another promotion remains to be seen.

Brock’s last match in AEW took place on the August 21 episode of AEW Dark, where he defeated Tyson Maddux.
